MINI HOSPITALS TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY TO QUALITY HEALTH SERVICES IN KANCHIBIYA CONSTITUENCY

Kanchibiya Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Sunday Chilufya Chanda has commended the quality of works at Mpepo and Chalabesa Mini-hospitals stating that together with Kopa and Luchembe mini-hospitals, the facilities will improve accessibility to quality healthcare services in the Constituency.

Hon Chanda was in the company of His Royal Highness Chief Mpepo and His Royal Highness Chief Luchembe inspected ongoing works at Mpepo Mini Hospital of Kanchibiya Constituency.

Hon Chanda has stated that bringing these facilities closer to the people was important as healthcare was a right for all, including citizens in rural areas and not a privilege for those along the line of rail.

The Kanchibiya lawmaker says he will engage the respective stakeholders in the constituency to ensure people register for health insurance. Hon Chanda says this will allow more Zambians from poor households access quality healthcare services as they contribute towards sustainable healthcare financing.

Hon Chanda has also announced that the CDF Committee considered the proposal from department of health in the District to construct mortuaries at each of these mini-hospitals as they were not included in the contract.

And speaking after the tour, both Chief Mpepo and Chief Luchembe expressed satisfaction at the quality of works by the contractor while calling on the community to guard the facility jealously.

Later the Kanchibiya lawmaker toured Chalabesa Mini Hospital in the where he expressed concern about the sewerage and water system at the facility. He also called on the contractor to ensure fittings in the four houses are completed.

He was accompanied to the facility by Kanchibiya Council Chairperson Ms Kanungwe Chota Kanyanyamina.
